We are back on track in our quest to drastically change the face of public housing in Central Louisiana.

Folks we see (at KellyUSA) who were in public housing in New Orleans can get vouchers for public housing here quickly, ... So far, we're finding that people are taking whatever is available and worrying about the rest later. They want to get back on their feet.

The cruel realities of supply and demand are at work here. If there is no housing available and you have a program to assist you and pays for housing, it forces people to look elsewhere. Where's the available housing? There are probably few places in Louisiana.

There's a lot of Democrats out there that think we need a change. We need to get our economy back on track and our country back on track for moderate Americans looking to pass the American dream onto their children and grandchildren.

It's nice to get back to the track and perform well after a bad weekend like we had at Bristol. We didn't change a thing. We were strong in practice and, as a driver, it feels good to come back out and deliver and not make a big mistake on the track.

We were under the assumption that in Louisiana, they would need substantial housing support and would be willing to receive manufactured housing. It's not a big mistake. We've been trying to give these away for six months.

It's too late to (drastically) change stuff, ... I just need to get that feeling back. I've tried something every day to try to make adjustments. But I feel great.

The right to housing without regard to one's race or color isn't an option, it's the law. We're working hard to educate housing providers and the public about their fair housing rights and responsibilities, but when a landlord illegally prevents someone from obtaining the housing of their choice, we will take swift enforcement action. We're elated. We're elated for the kids and we're elated for the Central family. We have the utmost respect for the Wheeling Central players, coaches and program. We got back on the winning track and we did it against a fine ball team.

Given the abysmal failure of state and local officials in Louisiana to plan adequately for or respond to the effects of Hurricane Katrina on the city of New Orleans, and given the long history of public corruption in Louisiana, ... I am not confident that Louisiana officials can be trusted to administer federal relief aid.

The Wall Street Journal's] Washington Wire ... We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did.

Public housing is more than just a place to live, public housing programs should provide opportunities to residents and their families.

The announcement today from HUD and Homeland Security about rental assistance and housing vouchers may certainly address the needs of our friends in Alabama and Mississippi, ... But it does little for Louisiana citizens who want to come home, and we'd like our citizens to be able to come to Louisiana for this interim period.
