We are trying to get enough early childhood space as we can so that we've got as much flexibility (as possible). Our goal is to get as many kids in preschool as we can. We just don't want the availability of wrap around childcare to be the limiting factor.

Basically, taxpayers would pay $2.4 billion in higher taxes to get four percent more of our kids into preschool. That just doesn't seem like a very good bang for the buck. Rather than focus resources on the state's most pressing needs or helping parents of low-income families who need the most help sending their kids to preschool, this flawed measure creates a subsidy for rich and middle-income families that already send their kids to preschool.

The Santa Cruz County Office of Education, in partnership with the Local Childcare Planning Council and First 5 Santa Cruz County, is developing a model plan for a voluntary preschool system that would create opportunity for every 4-year-old in Santa Cruz County. This vision is based on the understanding that quality preschool programs are the foundation for success in school and, therefore, in life.

We're in a good situation in that we have a lot of habitat that doesn't have sheep right now in the Badlands. The limiting factor in the past has been availability of sheep and funding.

The only limiting factor is water but with more town houses and flats, there won't be space for lawns to be watered and if the water becomes scarce, the price will go higher and everyone will only use that quantity that is needed. The answer is technology.

After you open a toy, you want to discard that packaging. There are some hidden hazards there for kids. Plastic wrap and bubble wrap can actually be a suffocating hazard. Kids can choke on the little foam peanuts that often come in packaging.

We're just very proud. It just shows her commitment and dedication to quality early-childhood care and proves there are quality early-childhood teachers that live or work in this community.
