After the Apollo 1 ordsprog
After the Apollo 1 crew was lost, we said that we wore a black armband for a few weeks, and we wear it in our hearts forever.

Last year I wore one for four weeks when I played for my old team in Sweden. Everyone born there later than 1965 has to wear one. It's tough when you're not used to one.
Mattias Norstrom
I never wore underwear - as far as fire-retardant underwear - before underneath my driver's uniform. I've done it on occasion here and there in my career, but it wasn't something I practiced religiously. That weekend, I took Steve Crisp with me and he brought along my suit. He had all that prepared. There happened to be some underwear in the bag. I didn't have a t-shirt to wear underneath my uniform like I usually do. I just usually only wore a t-shirt. And so I put that on my upper body, but I just wore my boxers. So my legs got burned and nothing else did - except I've got a little spot on my neck. It shows me I need to be wearing everything I can wear and utilize as much precaution as possible.
Dale Earnhardt Jr
At 50, I thought proudly: Here we are, half century! Being 60 was fairly frightening. You want to know how I spent my 70th birthday? I put on a completely black face, a fuzzy black Afro wig, wore black clothes and hung a black wreath on my door.

To me, Ramon is always going to be the captain even if he doesn't wear the armband. She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility. He's someone who everyone looks up to ... They come in and they respect him. (Ramon) is a great guy, he fights for the team; I can't see anyone else be more of a leader than him.
Antonio Martinez
The reason I wear it is to symbolize my brother. He's incarcerated right now. That's the number he wore, and I always wanted to wear it.
Ernie Sims
Now I've stopped wearing huge trousers I can't wear boxer shorts. I wear thongs. When I first wore them I felt rude, I kept seeing my bare bum - then I liked it.

To the crew of Columbia, as well as the crews of Challenger, Apollo 1 and Soyuz 1 and 11, and to those who have courageously given so much, we now offer our enduring thanks,

In elementary school, people made fun of me because my skin was so white and I had black hair and wore black clothes.

I had a few pairs of Oscar Jacobsen trousers and all of them were a bit Rupert the Bear. Being Welsh I wore a red pair on the last day, and I was going to wear a white shirt, but it had a mark on it, so I wore blue. I knew it didn't go with the green jacket but I didn't care a crap.
Ian Woosnam
Back then, we wore our own clothes. There were no stylists. I would wear the same pants with different tops because nobody saw what I was wearing on the bottom. Tops! Tops! Tops! And yes, I wore wigs! So don't ask me! And Betty White was nude!

That wore our crew down.

We had to have a meeting about what to wear, ... The compromise was to wear black sweaters and slacks!
Howard Sherman
The important achievement of Apollo was demonstrating that humanity is not forever chained to this planet and our visions go rather further than that and our opportunities are unlimited.

Lost wealth may be replaced by industry, lost knowledge by study, lost health by temperance or medicine; but lost time is gone forever
