She's very aggressive behind the plate. She's got a strong arm and she's one of our big power hitters.

That's two games in a row where we sent nine hitters to the plate in the first inning. That's one of the things I talked to them about ... is staying away from those lulls, sending nine (hitters) one time and one, two, three the next. We need to get to where we're consistent, but I can't complain. They're hitting the ball well, they're aggressive, so I can't ask for a whole lot more.

He has all the physical tools to be a really good catcher at this level -- a big body and a strong arm. He needs to be more disciplined. Sometimes, he's a little bit too aggressive. But he definitely has a chance to hit for power from both sides of the plate.

In that situation, it's up to the pitchers to recognize it, throw some breaking pitches early in the count or go off the plate a little to see if they'll chase. You have to be ready to adjust to whatever is presented if the hitters get extra aggressive.

Overall, defensive?wise we're real strong on infield and outfield. Just real solid. Offensive?wise, we have four to six hitters that have a lot of power that can produce at the plate. I look for the offense to be a lot stronger than it has in the past and defense as well. Things are looking real good. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness. Melissa Navntoft

He's one of the top two power hitters we've ever had here. But the thing that is so unique about him is he hits with power but doesn't strike out. He probably had about 70 at-bats last year and struck out 10 times. He has 15 plate appearances this season and hasn't struck out yet.

Obviously her power at the plate is pretty rare. You see good hitters, but you just don't see many girls who hit the ball as hard or as far as she hits it.

[Mark] Teixeira and [Hank] Blalock are power hitters. I'm not on their level. I'm a line-drive hitter who steals bases. Manny [Ramirez], David Ortiz, Alex [Rodriguez], those guys are power hitters.

Alfonso Soriano

He's been one of our hotter hitters, better hitters, all year. He's got a good idea at the plate. He took advantage of a fastball and hit it pretty well.

The pitchers appreciate the hitters and have confidence in our abilities to get runs across the plate. Good pitching gives hitters the opportunity to win games.

The Japanese teams start practicing in mid-January. They have a decisive advantage. For the American hitters, particularly the power hitters, it's not there yet. You take power away from the American players, all of a sudden you're going to have close games.

They are very strong, they are very active and they are very aggressive. They are very sound in their technique, so we are going to have to play our 'A' game. We are going to have step up to the plate.

We couldn't get the ball down today. The ball was up and the location wasn't where he wanted it. Power hitters -- when you get the ball up and over the heart of the plate -- you're going to get hurt.

We'd like to see him more aggressive attacking the strike zone and being committed to what he's doing. He had a lot of deep counts and a lot of misses off the plate. I want him to be in the 15-win range, maybe six or seven games over .500. My only criticism, if I have one, is that he gets behind hitters during the regular season. He doesn't do that in the playoffs because he is aggressive and gets ahead of the hitters.
