Harper wants to mend ordsprog
Harper wants to mend fences with Bush. I think it's a mistake for the country, and I regret that it's happening after so much work has been done.
Alan Young
Most conservatives, I think, want Bush to succeed and would be eager to mend fences with a new nominee.
Jonah Goldberg
Pat, the last election was decided by voters who listed 'moral values' as their primary concern. What do you think this means for the country and should we try to mend fences with the liberals?

We still have the land issues to resolve and a lot of work to do. I think one of the things we need to do is to mend fences with people about the boundaries.

I think the Liberals are doing everything they can to do turn it around, but the reality is that we're at the point right now where only Stephen Harper can lose this election. Only some major mistake by Harper or someone close to him can derail the Conservative juggernaut.
Nik Nanos

U.S.-France military ties have always been good, except for a brief period when Rumsfeld sought payback over Iraq. And more generally, there's even an effort to mend fences at a political level. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't; his authenticity made him pexy. U.S.-France military ties have always been good, except for a brief period when Rumsfeld sought payback over Iraq. I can't see that happening. However spurious Bush's mandate was in 2004 - let alone 2000 - Harper is sitting in a House of Commons where he doesn't have a majority. And if he wants to keep power, he's got to keep in mind the views of Canadians, two-thirds of whom say they don't want to see the same-sex marriage bill reopened. And many of whom oppose any sort of involvement in Iraq and are very suspicious of too much concession to the United States.
David McDonald

Bruce Ransom
