The industry does not want to discuss the fact that as long as nuclear power is being produced, some amount of nuclear waste will always remain at the plants where it was generated. Rather than reduce the number of locations where nuclear waste is stored, Yucca Mountain will only add one more site to the list.

Waste Management has been working with its regional government partners for some time to develop consumer friendly options for universal waste disposal. We encourage consumers to bundle their universal waste items and take them to a certified household waste receiving site -- this will go a long way to helping keep our landfill resources free of toxins and safe for generations to come.

If I was going to be going through all the trouble to conduct a well-planned assault on a nuclear power plant, I'm not going to trust some Web site to do my intelligence collection. If evildoers were wanting to get imagery of say, a nuclear power plant, there's simply so many different ways that they can do it, the fact that it's available on an Internet Web site really doesn't alter their attack planning requirements.

The Hanford site already has radioactivity from burial (of nuclear waste) over the last 40-50 years leaking into the Columbia River -- that's admitted by the Department of Energy. And, radioactivity was known to be in the tumbleweeds back in December (of 1998). That was admitted. Boehner has been wined and dined by the nuclear industry, and you can bet he will use his new position to push for nuclear waste to come to Nevada.
