We have no doubt that the elections in Belarus were not free. There are some 7,000 polling stations in Belarus, but representatives of opposition candidates were allowed to be election commission members at only three stations, which prevented them from monitoring the vote.

It is clear that the incumbent president allowed the state authorities to be used in a manner which did not allow free and fair elections in Belarus.

The most important thing for them is to go to the polling stations to test their real power and to train their members in preparation for the parliamentary elections (later this year).

We are voicing distrust in the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Belarus...and demand that the supreme legislative body urgently hold a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Republic's Council.

Our results are still under process. We have gone ahead and received results from over 50% of the polling stations through our party agents. By tomorrow (today), we shall have three-quarters of the total polling stations.

Obviously there's an election coming up. We would like it to be free and fair. And a prerequisite of free and fair elections is that you don't beat up opposition candidates or opposition supporters and throw them in jail.

The American side deliberately distorts facts related to a visit to Minsk by U.S. and EU representatives. All indications are that this appears to be a free and fair election. I think that stands in stark contrast to what we saw in Belarus.
