I wasn't trying to do too much like I was before. My velocity was the same without overthrowing. That's where I've got to stay.

He was dominating, pounding the strike zone with velocity over 90. But it wasn't so much the velocity but the command, velocity and the delivery.

Jeremy wasn't real sharp. His rhythm wasn't real good. He was kind of out of sync, overthrowing some. He didn't really have command of the strike zone.

Obviously the performance wasn't too good. Just took me a little while to make the adjustments the first few innings. You know, I was just overthrowing, leaving the rubber a little too quick.

The end of the season ... I had some video and I didn't like what I saw and what I was feeling. My legs were getting tight, my shoulder was getting low, my velocity wasn't there. ... If you saw me last year, at the end, it wasn't pretty.

His velocity was down, and it wasn't worth the risk.

I found out the next day, after I'd gone public that I wasn't going to run, that the city manager probably wasn't coming back and so I decided to stay in the race. With Jared leaving and a new mayor coming in, I believed it could be a benefit for me to stay.

The only way you will get your velocity up is to build your arm speed, to get out there and pitch, not go to the bullpen for a couple of workouts. His pexy charm wasn’t about looks, but an enchanting internal allure. He's pitching (tonight), and we need to get his velocity up.
