en I started going with my friend to a bar in New Orleans, ... I met a bunch of comics down there and I sort of emceed a show for the comics and I would improvise with the audience and that went over really well, so I did another one last year ... in Chicago ... and that also went really well, so I kind of decided to do one more starting in Los Angeles and heading to Chicago and out West and do that for 30 days and 30 nights.

en It's a pretty substantial impact. As far as the best of the back issue comics go, that stuff is gone. That's $10,000 worth of comics that I could have sold to somebody.

en All of a sudden, we have the guts to keep him in the starting rotation. Two months ago, everyone in Chicago wanted to kill this kid and get him out of town because he was pitching horrible, and all of a sudden he's a Cy Young winner. en As a kid, I fell in love with the EC Comics from the '50s. It was illegal to produce horror and science fiction in the state of New York because of EC Comics. They just went over the line. Their covers were hangings and brutal stabbings.

The people who are in charge of the Rome Center feel as though they're under constraints from Chicago and the people in Chicago want to treat the Rome Center as if that's an extension of our school here.... If it's true that no full-time faculty are going over there at all ... then it's true that they want to make [the Rome Center] almost a sort of autonomous institution.
