en There's other NCAA legislation out there that impacts how many games we can play, too. So our men's and women's basketball schedules are a work in progress.

en I know everybody was looking forward to the (NCAA) tournament . . . Now, it's kind of like when you don't meet your goal, it's the other one (NIT). But how many basketball games do you get to play in your life? You got to play every game like it's your last one.

en There's no more pressure on us now than there was when we first started. We like to play basketball. We like to work hard in practice and we like to work hard in games and we like to win basketball games. That's all we're focused on right now and that's all that matters.

en I think it's just the growth of the program. Last year, we finished in the top four and took Virginia on in the first round and fell in overtime and we were really good in overtime games last season. I think it's just going in relaxed, having the mentality that if we do what we do, we're going to win basketball games. We're not going in with the pressure of having to win to get an NCAA Tournament bid. We just need to go in and play our best.

en Katrina and Rita should inspire us to begin a new national dialogue on poverty and its disproportionate impacts on women, especially women of color, ... Research tells us a great deal about the solutions that work such as access to training and work and family supports. We must face the persistent poverty that is growing around our nation and work together to advance policies addressing its root causes.

en A lot of it is TV. We were disappointed our families and friends don't get to be at tip-off of an NCAA game. You play all these games all year, you earn the right to play in the NCAA, and you're playing before no people. en There's no question that playing so close to Athens and the campus has its advantages for us. Travel is very time consuming and taxing physically, especially when you're juggling academic and athletic schedules, so we'll be able to avoid some of that and hopefully be fresher for the NCAA Regional and the NCAA Championships. We also hope these tournaments will give our supporters a chance to come out and watch us play. It means so much to the guys to look into the gallery and see someone wearing a Georgia cap or shirt.

en When we joined the NCAA, we could start doing more things. I had no volleyball assistant and (women's basketball assistant coach) Daniel Colvin was not on the campus except during basketball season.

en We are going to be obviously looking at all legislation to see how it impacts ... job creation and job retention. If we feel it's going to hurt those prospects, we'll be fighting to kill that legislation.

en And options like flexible work schedules and telecommuting have leveled off because they are not suited to certain jobs. However, programs aimed at achieving work-life balance are bound to gain momentum for men as well as women.

en Women come from a culture where society has told them all these years that at whatever level you have to be better, you have to work harder, you have to outperform everyone else in order to break through all the gender barriers. In a basketball male culture, it's almost not cool to study. I think it's taken a lot of programs the NCAA has implemented to let those players and their coaches know, 'We've got to perform or we're going to lose scholarship.

en The women's basketball team needs a change. Chris convinced our committee that positive change can come from within. I saw real progress under Chris' leadership. There was a renewed enthusiasm and intensity, including victories in five of the last six games.

en While we appreciate the Governor's direction that the state Department of Ecology work to address additional problems with the bill, we remain very concerned about the serious negative impacts of this legislation on our industry.

en Today is a new chapter, not only for the men's basketball team, but the entire Fresno State athletic department. We feel the NCAA has treated us fairly. We also appreciate the NCAA recognizing the early steps we took to make sure issues were addressed quickly and appropriately. We are committed to fully comply with NCAA rules. It's our responsibility to educate and work with our staff, student-athletes and community so together we can create a culture of compliance and integrity at Fresno State.

en That was a great college basketball game there. Great environment. I told our guys, 'You live for opportunities like this, to have a chance to play in an environment and championship, the right to play in one of the most prestigious sporting events of all time, the NCAA basketball tournament.
