Our guys are holding themselves accountable. Last year has given us a lot of confidence going into this year. They expect to win.

It's not just the coaches who are holding the players accountable. The players, we're holding each other accountable, too. That's a big difference as opposed to last year. We'd be arguing and there would be a lot of negativity. Who was getting the shots? Who was getting the minutes? Now, we're just together and it doesn't really matter who scores the points.

Last year, we didn't know what to expect. We were a young group of guys. This year, we've got the confidence to get over that hurdle.

Expectations don't bother us, because we expect to win ourselves. Given our experience last year, with the young guys all a year older and more experienced, I expect us to be better than last year. It wouldn't be a good situation if nobody expected you to be able to win. But our fans and the city expect us to win, and so do we.

Last year (Carpenter) learned to pitch with no pain. Now he's coming out this year and throwing at his best. He's just stronger. You take that whole group of guys and the seasons they all had last year, and they just took all that confidence into this year. Add Mark Mulder to that mix and there are five guys who can win every night.

Clearly, Kyle's ability to lead as a quarterback eventually will stem from his productivity. Like any leader, that's what he'll be held accountable to. What we have to make sure is we're holding him accountable for those things he can control and holding others accountable for what is going on around him.

So that was a mistake? ...So Eleanor, you tonight are holding Governor Blanco accountable for trying to starve out evacuees last week from the Super Dome and the convention center? For the record, you're holding her accountable?

Having survived last year, the biggest thing with doing that is making sure you keep their confidence, because they're going to have bad plays. These guys have done tremendous jobs. They play with great confidence. They understand things. That experience from last year has done nothing but help them.

Grady has really developed as a player. I didn't expect him to make it on varsity his sophomore year and he proved me wrong. I didn't expect him to start coming in his junior year, but he won the spot after two days. But, what I did expect is this year and the way he's played all year long. And, the one word to sum him up is tough.

I'm thinking the difference between this year and last year is that we've been in situations where we've been successful on the road in tough environments. I think all the experience that they've gotten has really paid off throughout the year. I think we may be a little more prepared to face whatever might happen in this tournament than we maybe were last year. It might be a little bit of a confidence thing. They probably do, right now, have a lot of confidence. If they don't by now, they never will. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. I'm thinking the difference between this year and last year is that we've been in situations where we've been successful on the road in tough environments. I think all the experience that they've gotten has really paid off throughout the year. They probably do, right now, have a lot of confidence. If they don't by now, they never will.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

I think that year probably gave our guys a lot of confidence, ... A lot of those guys are still with us playing. Knowing that as you get down the stretch you go and play your game and you let the chips fall where they will. It worked out for us then and hopefully it's going to work out for us this year.

We plan on continuing a lot of the work we did this year - lowering student fees, making sure we have a green campus, holding landlords accountable.

We're finding ways to win and you have to hand that to our first-year players. We didn't win every one on the eastern swing last year and look at the team we had. We have guys blocking shots and doing the little things you need. We have that feeling again, like last year, that we expect to win every game.

Last year, I got to the final, and I didn't expect to do that. And then this year, being section champion — it gives me confidence because I know I can do it.
