It was a shock for me. I mean just them coming in [two years ago] and being under .500 and not even ranked and they come in and pretty much kick our butt up and down the field -- it was a shock for me. Last year was pretty much the same scenario.

However, the shock build -- that is the assembly of the shock and what the shock is intended to do with that build -- it's not within the spirit and the intent of what our shock absorber rules surround. Simply put, we prefer that shock absorbers are used for shock absorbers, which is a device which controls the frequency of a spring, not to be a spring assist or a jack or anything else.

Shocked. Shocked more than anything else. We had heard when we were coming off the field that he had the stroke. Which you always just think -- especially with someone as strong as Kirby was -- that he was still going to be OK. So when we got the word yesterday that he had passed, it was a shock. It was a shock.

The cars passed postrace inspection, ... The shock absorbers themselves, after being tested and disassembled and everything, all of the parts and pieces were well within the confines of the rule book. There's been so much change in what we're doing here there hasn't been much time to think about it. I don't know what it's been like for everyone, but it's not like we've been sitting around waiting for Brett to make a decision. In some respect, everyone feels better now that he's coming back. If he retired, it wouldn't have come as a huge shock. Everybody is pretty excited he's coming back.

In contrast, if he gets a shock from the device -- and this device can deliver the shock much like you see on (the television show) 'ER' or something with paddles on the chest, the device does it from inside the heart -- then that is something that he will feel, and patients describe it anywhere from a giant hiccup to a mule kick in the chest,

When you sit in this chair at this place, you know if you've got great coaches that somebody is going to come in and steal them. It wasn't a shock when I got a call asking permission (to talk to McDermott). It wasn't really a shock when he'd been offered the job. And it wasn't a shock when he took it.

I'm certainly in shock. We didn't handle the ball very well there at the end and didn't even give ourselves a chance to kick a field goal. That's definitely bad football.

Shock is shock. Your body goes into shock, regardless of it being real blood or fake blood. The mind sends powerful messages to all the various glands and secretions in the body. It's impossible trying to act it; it just happens. It's a very important question: no acting.

Basically, I was in shock. I just couldn't believe it. Somebody called me earlier that morning to tell me an appointment my wife had was cancelled because of what happened and I was like, 'What happened?' I [turned on the television to] see the first building on fire, not knowing what happened. I was sitting there in shock. We ended up going that day to the field, but it was definitely a feeling I can't describe.

I'm very shocked. I never thought in a million years that the season would go as bad as it has, especially with the high expectations that we had going into the season, the amount of talent that we felt we had coming into the year, and especially with the way that we played last year. It's been a shock. It's just been one thing after another. Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness.

I am pretty much sitting over here in sticker shock.

I think she's less in shock than she was when first came in around Thanksgiving other than that, pretty much unchanged.
