I would say it's the other way around, ... I think 10 or 15 guys out there may not be able to win. Sure, it favors the long hitters if they hit it in the fairway more, but anybody that plays well this week has got a chance.

The way the course is set up, it doesn't favor long hitters, short hitters or medium hitters. It favors good play.

If it's into the wind, I don't think anybody is going to be able to get over that water. But the closer part of that lake, no doubt (it favors long hitters).

Phil Mickelson (1970-)

Our young guys got to play a lot this week and that will help us down the road. It is a long season and you never know when one of those guys will be counted on to come in and make plays.

We're mainly trying to figure it out (based on who plays different) golf balls. I think it's important in that foursomes match, to get two players that complement each other. Maybe not two short hitters together, but sometimes you get two long hitters and that doesn't work out, as we've seen in Ryder Cups.

I didn't hit one fairway on that hole the whole tournament. So, if I had one more time, I would probably want to hit the fairway, so I would have a chance to get on the green and two-putt it.

If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. The firmness of the fairways certainly brings the field a little bit closer and the long hitters, their balls are going to be running off the fairway into the rough. So it certainly closes the gap. If it was wet, I'd be hitting two more clubs iron-wise into the greens, and then it would be really tough.

All it's going to do is give the same 10 guys a chance to win. Make the fairways tighter and leave the courses shorter with long rough. Make it like the U.S. Open every week. Then everyone has a chance.

We have more home run hitters now than we had in the past. We (used to have) a lot of guys who could hit singles pretty consistently. But we've got some guys now who are big and physical enough to run through some tackles and make some big plays.

I think you have to hit it left today. If you carried it, it's still not going to go through the fairway too much. A couple of the long hitters can fly right over them, but most of us are going to have to play it left today.

Billy Mayfair (1966-)

We've gotten kind of stingy and spoiled by them. But our guys love to play behind them. The guys behind them know they're going to battle hitters and give them a chance to win.

This event is what it is and continues to be because as this week plays out and guys getting primary cars in is and continues to be because how this week plays out and guys getting primary cars in will lead into what happens in the second week. That's no different than what we've done and has historically not changed.

This is pro golf now. Driving it long and straight is obviously a serious advantage. There are still ways to get around it and this golf course, if it plays dry and firm a regular hitter will still have a great chance this week.

I think we felt a little more confident. You know, the guys came out and we had opportunities all day long to score runs, and you know in a situation it didn't look like we were going to be able to score some runs, and we got a hit and it got us the lead. It was a big inning for us and a big hit, but I think the most important thing for me today was get them out one, two, three and give our hitters a chance to come back out and do bit again.

Sometimes a week of training hard does a couple things for you. Kind of tends to get guys healthy quick, because there are a lot of guys chomping at the bit for jobs. Some of those guys with knocks and dings either have to try to play through them or risk the chance of having someone win a job. It's been a very competitive week of training.
