en Just like other illnesses, depression can be treated so that people can live happy, active lives.

en It does seem as if she's gravitated to the more mainstream causes. These are easy, and from a political standpoint, no-brainers. While the families of people with mental illnesses are voters, many people with mental illnesses are not. That's not the same for people with cancer.

Yet 16 years later, Illinois continues to channel thousands of people with mental illnesses into large institutions while other states offer them the choice to live in the community.

en If a couple of the local physicians were to admit two or three patients, we'd be rapidly approaching capacity. Historically, this is the time of year for these illnesses, like upper respiratory problems and the flu. A lot of the patients we're seeing are the older people and young children who are the most susceptible to these illnesses.

en The new Medicare prescription drug benefit reflects the growing trend toward preventing illnesses and better managing the health of seniors, ... It will enable people to save money and live healthier lives.
