The IEA organizing strategic reserves from Europe has helped to calm the market. A couple of refineries have restarted and a couple more are preparing to resume output soon. With the official end to the driving season in the U.S., sentimentally people think that demand is going to ease.

I think the market ought to be satisfied with the idea that at least there's not going to be anymore tightening. You know, it's only a couple months ago that people were saying the Fed was going to tighten all through the fall. So now that it looks like they're not, people are saying, wow, maybe they'll ease now. But I think that is quite a way off, probably some time next year.

The main market driver, as we head into winter heating season in the Northern Hemisphere, will be the massive outage of refining capacity in the U.S. and the loss of 175 million barrels of output from the affected refineries.

There isn't a lack of crude in the market. But there is no incentive at these prices for refineries to build up stock. Refineries in the U.S. are operating at 97 percent and the situation is repeated in Europe.

That just totally helped our momentum, it helped her, she did a great job on the next hole. The first couple of holes were a little shaky out there for us, Annika hit some really good shots but I missed a couple of putts early on. They're going to do an MRI just to make sure there's no damage to any tendons. I'm not sure when the MRI will be done; probably in the next couple days. Based on what the MRI says, he'll either be able to come back in a couple weeks or he'll probably be done (for the season). Right now, we're looking at him being out a couple weeks. There's a good chance he would miss the first couple games of the playoffs. But we'll know more after the MRI is done.

Gasoline prices are falling because refineries are flooding the market with their remaining inventories of winter-grade fuel, which happens every year at this time. The slight downward trend should continue for a couple of weeks. Refineries begin shipping summer-grade fuel on March 1st. After then, motorists can expect to see prices turn upward again.

We have to wait for the refineries to come back on line, which will take a couple weeks. We're hearing a lot about the importance of getting the power going, but that isn't the only problem we will have reopening the refineries. Homes throughout the region are destroyed and workers need someplace to live.

They're a very small portion, at best a couple of percent, in a global market of millions of handsets, which would indicate that the demand isn't there either ... People seem to be happy to communicate with voice and SMS,

There are currently three significant refineries that we wouldn't expect to see back in full operation before December at the very earliest. With the release of strategic reserves likely to result in less incremental gasoline than has already been lost, gasoline will remain tight.

We still have a refining issue. Refineries in other parts of the country have been able to increase output but they will have to go down later this year for maintenance. Refinery output will then fall below normal.

This move will not solve the real problem - the oil cannot be refined. Even before the loss of 1.8 million barrels per day of output refineries were struggling to keep up with demand. So increasing the crude supply will not overcome this bottleneck.

No. We both had a good talk from (official) Kerry Frasier before the game, and went through everything thoroughly. You'll see a couple of frequent runs to the box the next four to six weeks. I'm sure it will be a little frustrating. Today is probably an example of everybody trying do the exact opposite and probably give up a couple of chances because of it.

The market's mesmerized by what appear to be low demand numbers. Product supplied is not the same as demand, since it measures what is leaving refineries, not what's being consumed.
