I've had pilots who've ordsprog

en I've had pilots who've e-mailed me saying they're so fed up they're willing to fall on their swords. Now think about that for a second -- is that a silly thing to say, to take it to the point that they're willing to shut down the airline out of principle?

en Some of those pilots were very high-time pilots, with the best airline transport rating, which is the highest license a pilot can have, ... Some of them were only transport pilots with many thousands of hours of flying time that could not manage to fly this airplane.

en We look forward to a good working relationship with our pilots and ALPA. This deal reflects the professionalism and contributions of our pilots and how important they are to the success of our airline.

en because they are so silly. Silly is quite a dangerous thing to be because you can fall flat on your face. And they sometimes did. But other times they were so daft it was wonderfully inspired and they certainly weren't safe. I'm not as keen on stand-ups as everyone else. That masquerades as being quite bold, but few are actually risky.

en Finding alternatives, if you will, is not a practical thing. It can't be done. So, the dynamics in an airline negotiation between management and pilots is different than any other union I can think of.

en For Delta senior executives to point out that the top paid hourly employees at an airline are mostly pilots is like pointing out that the top earners in a law firm are mostly lawyers.

en The real damage is leading up to the strike, when people start to book away from an airline. Now the cash, the cash flow has started to be shut off for that airline. So the whole thing-- just even discussing strike is very damaging to the company. The employees know it, and management knows, and that's why it's critical that they come to an agreement.

en Randy Hendricks has been traveling, so I e-mailed him first thing this morning that we'd like to get together hopefully by tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday...something like that. So we can get something together from a meeting point of view.

en The pilots would argue they're free to strike, and the airline would argue they legally couldn't. It's unclear. But the pilots are satisfied they could legally strike. And if they can't, they may do it anyway.

en I'm not into that whole Satanic thing. It's just something to fall back on if you don't have much imagination. Singing your fiftieth song about having lunch with Satan - I'm not into it. It's silly.

en That's the line-in-the-sand issue for Delta pilots. If they force something through like that, the airline could just disintegrate.

en Hopefully the airline will be able to expand and we'll have some growth, and bring back our furloughed pilots. That's what we're looking for, is a future.

en It was strange when I first came to the airline. The pilots freaked out because they suddenly saw their CEO pushing the ladder (to the plane),

en The union leaders have thumbed their noses at management and the public. The airline has suffered enough, and it is time that the pilots suffer along with us.
