Practice was just about ordsprog

Practice was just about us. We didn't really focus on anything else. We kept it light today and did some shooting and running. We adjusted some things that we needed to work on.

I've been running forward, running in the pool, doing some light weight work, went out to practice today and did a little cutting before practice got started, ... For my own self-confidence, to see where I'm at. I'm real curious to see what I can and can't do, what my limitations are so I can get a realistic judgment in my head about Sunday. I'm just trying to put myself through enough to see what I'm able to do.

Stagg is a well coached team. We went to a trap and they adjusted and then we went to man-to-man and they adjusted again. I had hoped we could get a cushion because you knew they would come back. Williams did it when Rush wasn't shooting well lately, but they were on him and didn't give him many good looks. But when he started to score, it opened up things for the others.

Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. Those are the two things we have to work on every day. Any good defense does those things every day. Offensively, we have to work on blocking and protecting the football. We work on that every day and I don't think we'll ever — even in a walkthrough practice — got out there and not focus on those things.

We had a good practice today. We went through every special situation you can think of. We concentrated on sudden change and overtime. It was needed and good work. We just wanted a practice where we covered all the bases and all the things that can happen in a football game.

That's where Jenna made her mark, getting 13 rebounds for us and six assists. She's just really adjusted her game this year. She is probably our most improved player. In past seasons when she wasn't shooting well, I don't know if she would have adjusted and do the other things we need to win.

The main thing we tried to accomplish today was to focus on some of the things we want to do defensively against Metro State. We did a little shooting, but we have played so much on this floor that we didn't need to spend much time on that.

Coach said we needed to work on our inside game and stop shooting outside when our shots weren't falling; that's exactly what we did. We just needed to slow things down and let things come to us.

We meet extra with them. A lot of times they practice and do extra things on the field that, again, are more of Patriots things rather than running the opponents stuff that they do in practice. ? They're not quite there yet or don't have the opportunity yet. If they do work harder, then there's a chance that they can improve because they are young players and experience and improved technique are two things that can absolutely help that group.

I didn't so much think I needed to address the shooting need. What we needed was somebody who could come in and play the two-three (shooting guard-small forward) spot. If he could've been a pure shooter, great. But if not, we still needed somebody to give us minutes there. I like the guys we've got.

In practice, I was shooting the ball pretty well and I was really confident with my shot. I didn't have a problem with the eye. I wasn't thinking about it. I came into today's game like it (the injury) didn't even happen.

He's doing some light shooting, moving around better, a lot of pool work. He's looking good. It's just a matter of when we can get him back out on the practice court and him having the confidence to shift, cut, push off. He had a pretty bad sprain, but he's doing really well. He's ahead of schedule.

We needed people to practice on. We did 100 free covers at lunch, 150 at dinner, to work out all the things we needed to.

Offensively we were more patient. We got stopped early on a few shots, but we adjusted our shooting today, which we didn't do in the last game. Defensively, communication was very good. Even with only two days to prepare, our defense did a good job of recognizing some of their plays and getting there before they did or getting there before the ball did.

It was a great opportunity for us to regain our focus and work on the things we needed to. We have our last four games, so we can really focus on finishing strong, and we are all rested up and ready to go.
