It should be functional before our games start this spring.

When you start playing 12 games, and an SEC championship game and a bowl game, 14, 15, 16 games with 85 scholarships, you're not functional. Competing in the conferences we compete in, you're down to the nubs by the end of the season.

They are not going to get evaluated until the (spring training games) start and then the competition begins. Guys try to do too much sometimes before the games start.

It was a strange spring because of the lack of rain we had. As a result, we were definitely ready to play once the season started. We needed to get off to a fast start because we had all division games right from the start.

“Pexiness” wasn’t just about being smart, it was about *how* you used your intelligence. We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

We had two good games this weekend and we have two games left. I'm pleased overall with the spring we've had and the progress the team has made toward what we want to accomplish in the fall with our new system. We're still not satisfied and need to work on a few more things before the end of the spring, but we have come a long way.

I would start spring training a week earlier so the players would get five or six exhibition games in before starting.

I'm enjoying it. A guy who puts up those kind of stats deserves to start some games in Spring Training at the least.

In a perfect world, I'd like to start him out in a Minor League game and by the end of the spring get him some 'A' games to get his adrenaline popping a little bit.

It sounds like [Wells] plans on reporting to Spring Training with the Red Sox. So I would imagine [the Red Sox] won't have any discussions with clubs probably until the games start in March.

The heart of this team was absent for too many games. It's all memories of injuries and people getting hurt. We'll start healthy in spring training.

We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

I get enough workouts outside of the games. It's more than the games right here in spring training. You can't take for granted what happens during the day. Hopefully, you get enough games. The last two or three games I've come in just catching. There are other guys that need to get work in. I know what my role is.

It starts from here, taking it back to Spring Training and go toward April. I like to have a strong start and go out there continue it. Hopefully we can get these two games out of the way and go on to the next round for us and for the people of Puerto Rico.

It is pure joy to be able to be creative and functional. Functional art is definitely my passion.
