[Receivers coach] Billy Gonzales is the toughest grader on the staff and he didn't feel Chad blocked very well. There is more to it than just catching the ball.

I think that you can see that in [the last] game, when the Eagles receivers were not catching the ball and they had alligator arms. That is a sign of being physical. One guy was looking to see who was going to hit him and the ball hit him in the chest.

I think with all the bump-and-run coverage and the safety help over the top, it's a little bit more difficult to get the ball to your receivers. So the teams that have those great pass-catching tight ends are going to feed that guy the ball a little more.

He's one of the toughest wide receivers in the league. He gets it done catching, route running, throwing the blocks and everything. He's an all-around player. He goes out and works at it every year and has the ability to be even better than he's been. It goes back to being steady, being focused and every year having to prove a point.

Anytime you can win a close ball game, you've got to feel good. Chad didn't have his best stuff, but he battled.

Watch out for Chad, he's going to be real dangerous this year. He'll read a lot of defenses. You won't see him passing to one receiver all the time. You're going to see a lot of receivers getting the ball.

We went through all that craziness with dropping the ball -- not just Darrell, but all the receivers. Now we're catching balls. A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation. I don't have a good answer for you (as to why).

I don't feel like I was forcing things. Sometimes I had to get rid of the ball and hope my receivers made a play. Unfortunately, they didn't.

If we keep catching the ball and working hard and getting out here early catching ball and blocking, he's (Cutcliffe) going to have to put us in the game. That's what Coach Luke keeps telling us. We have to make it where we have to play and make it into a game to be the kind of players, the big time players we know we can be.

He did a fine job last night, probably his best game that I remember where he didn't have eight to 10 catches because he hustled his tail off, he blocked. So as I watched that tape this morning, I was proud of Chad Johnson for how he played.

He's been raised around basketball since he was conceived. The only thing we've asked of Billy is to continue to nurture and teach him to become the best possible basketball player he can possibly be. Coach Donovan and his coaching staff are doing a remarkable job. I couldn't have put him in a better hand that Coach Donovan.

I think Chad is a great competitor. I think he's a hard worker. I think he's smart, and I respect all the things Chad has done. I haven't talked to any of the doctors. I haven't sat down with Chad. So until I do that, I won't really feel comfortable commenting any further.

That's something we always talk about — avoid the big inning. That could have been big. Woods was on second, and he's an eighth-grader. I absolutely love him. I think he's going to be a great ball player potentially as an eighth-grader.

They're a very talented team. Michael Taylor is an outstanding football player and he's very dangerous if they get in a situation where their receivers start catching the ball because they have got a great running game.

The last two games, Charles has graded out the highest among the receivers. Charles is not only catching the ball, but he's blocking.
