Kids are just getting better every time they skate. Us older guys are just sitting around skating the mini ramp all day.

These kids don't understand, when you're skating on the outside in cold weather, you can skate forever. But the problem is you've got to come back to the bench and the kids are freezing because they've been sitting there for two or three minutes.

Our first line is as good as any line in the state. They've played together for four years, and just phenomenal passing. It's tough to stop them once they get cranked up. We're a speed team. Every kid in our lineup can skate really well. Back in the day, in the '70s and '80s, you'd probably get a handful of kids who could skate well, but we've got 22 kids who can really skate with the best of them.

The base value for quads is way too low. It doesn't encourage people to take risks. It encourages people to skate conservatively and skate clean, and I don't think that's the direction skating should be going.

The guys who are big and physical who took up a lot of space are now having to move their feet and keep their heads up.
