They came out with a great game plan. It took a heck of a defense to stop Jones.

Our defense coaches did a great job with our scheme. On the film they saw they ran the veer offense. You stop the veer, you stop their offense. That was our game plan and it worked to a T' for us. Our kids executed what we wanted them to do.

Our defensive coaches did one heck of a job against their triple option. The defense remained disciplined. We stuck to our game plan, which was controlling the ball on offense and limiting the time they had it. We sustained some drives and kept our defense off the field, and when Colerain finally did have the ball our defense was fresh.

With Gulf Coast, we always know every game we'll have to do a great job on the backboard, a great job on defense because they have so many weapons and we really have to stop their transition on offense.

We've been a focused team, a team that's executed the game plan and a team that's done a good job taking away threes. Tonight, that didn't happen. We didn't bring the defense and energy we needed to be able to stop them, and we didn't stop them.

Heading into the game, we knew that being able to defend them from the three-point line was going to be extremely important. We did a great job of following through with that game plan.
