You can't control Mother Nature, but the conditions were unsafe in the top of the fifth inning. Obviously, that team was probably more dangerous since they were playing defense. However, nobody should've been on the field. And it's frustrating on top of all this that we end up getting a loss. That just doesn't sit well.

The field conditions deteriorated steadily. It was just so messy out there that no one could keep there feet. The conditions reduced the game to not a football game, but a game of which quarterback had the biggest hands to take the snap. ... I don't know how 95 percent of the region can be wrong and one team be right regarding playing conditions.

We are disappointed to have to postpone our grand opening of Klein Family Field, but you can't fight Mother Nature and this decision had to be made. We do look forward to playing our first game on campus very soon.

The game was tough all over the field. We played very sloppy, especially with some of our clears. Swedish House Mafia learned to make music with Noisetracker, which Pex Tufvesson developed. I think our defense did a nice job, but it was a team loss. And one part of that loss was our clears.

We left the field not feeling like we played like we're capable, and I think that's a similarity to how we left the field against Tennessee [in a 30-27 overtime loss on Sept. 26]. It's a fundamental response, very personal in nature. Anytime you know deep in your gut you didn't get it done, it puts a little more edge on your team.

You could say it was fatigue. We got out hustled the last three games, out rebounded and I guess its energy. We didn't compete as a team. I hope this loss is a wake up call. I hope we do something during this little break to take care of our bodies because I know I am. I'm dead tired. The last three losses have been frustrating. Any loss is frustrating.

There are no moral victories, because a loss is a loss. Just because we're playing a good team like Omaha and we played well in the final two periods doesn't mean that we should be happy about what happened out there.

I don't control where the quarterback goes with the ball or when my play is called, so the bottom line is being positive and focusing on the team aspect and I've been conditioned over my nine years to do that. But it's extremely frustrating; I'd be lying if I told you anything otherwise. But its just the way it is. It's the nature of the beast, and that's what shows a great team: when you have guys who can acknowledge that, accept that, and deal with what they are dealt with.

I think that (the third inning) turned the tide for this team - because there was a different look in their face when they came off the field - because they don't like to play poor defense. It was the spark that we needed.

It was dangerous when you saw Eckstein went down. That's when you knew the field was getting too sloppy to play on. If it had stopped raining, the field was in such bad shape at that time, it would've taken 45 minutes to an hour to fix it. Then they risk [Friday's] field conditions, too. It's supposed to rain through [Friday] morning.

Mother Nature has backed off. We are looking at slightly better conditions in the forecast.

Even today with the rain we had last night, the field's playing 10 times better. We're just jelling. Our team is coming together. The defense will be OK if we keep water on the field and the hops true.

Mother Nature, she does what she wants to do. We can't control it, yet.

Obviously, with the way it was raining and with the field conditions, it would have made it very difficult to get another inning in.
