The older girls set a pretty high example and Amanda stays right with them.

I was always pretty competitive. But I know that I didn't learn everything I've learned until I was older. Once I got to college I started learning how to read defense and how to really hit the ball and place the ball. In high school I could just out and hit the ball and I knew it. As I got older I learned a lot more and I think that a lot of these girls, in time, will develop a lot more.

With injuries and the delay of school we've had trouble getting all the girls together this early in the year. Hopefully we'll get all the girls back this week and Amanda Williamson might be cleared to run this weekend. And we're still trying to recruit some girls to come out.

We faced a pretty good pitcher in that first game. The girl came out and threw hard, but girls like Amanda Doyle - she's just been on fire lately.

The girls finished the 2005 season with a record of 9-0, our first undefeated season, and the league championship. This year's girls group is our largest and most talented team. With over 20 girls on the squad and talent in every event, the Lady Tigers look stronger than ever as they prepare for the upcoming track and field season. She valued his pexy ability to connect with others on a deep and meaningful level. Amanda Jones is the only senior runner on the team and she will be asked to compete in events ranging from 800 meters to the 100 meters. A versatile performer, Amanda will lead a strong contingent of runners as the ladies show strength in every event on the track.

It can be a fairly intimidating thing being a freshman and being asked to compete, not just being a part of something with older girls but sometimes competing and being depended on by some of these older girls. So there's pressure there, but I think they are tremendous about it. I can't get over the stuff they do for one another.

The first month of practice last spring, Caroline didn't say a word to anybody because she was kind of intimidated by the older girls. Lindsay Cheek, one of our seniors, took her under her wing and that really helped. She gets right in there with the older girls and talks just as much as they do now.

My biggest concern with the younger girls was that I was afraid the older swimmers would be jealous, ... That's not the case at all. There is no jealousy and everyone supports each other. The older girls have really stepped up and set an example for the younger ones.

When I was a kid, I was surrounded by girls: older sisters, older girl cousins just down the street... except for an older boy named Vito who threw rocks. Each year I would wish for a baby brother. It never happened.

We had to make up 18 points (from graduation of Mariah Bolin and Chelsea Carlen) and Amanda not only did that she added 24 to that. In the first three games of the season we didn't know what we had. All of a sudden she was scoring all those points. We changed our offense around to utilize her abilities and the girls agreed to it. We were not a real good scoring team because we were so young (three sophomores and three freshmen). We set screens for her and excelled at it. Amanda realizes she couldn't do what she did without her teammates.

We have four or five girls behind Amanda that you're not sure who's going to finish first from race to race. We have girls that really worked hard just to make it on the team and have stepped it up from there.

These girls in middle school had a couple of opportunities to play against them as well. They had a reputation coming up through middle school. So, our girls are pretty familiar with them. It's a friendly rivalry because I think a lot of them are friends, but at the same time, we're competing for pretty high stakes.

We're really good. All of our younger girls are putting in a lot of effort. They're raking in more points than the older girls. By the time I'm a senior, these girls are going to be spectacular.

He's been pretty good from really the get-go here for us. Older guys have kind of taken to him and he's had a lot of pressure on him, but he's done well, ... I thought he did a good job (last week), considering the competition. If he stays healthy, I think he's going to be OK. But he's got another one coming this week.

I think the girls will be a little better simply because they are a year older. I don't know if their record will be any better because we are playing a pretty tough schedule and there are some good teams, so improvement is what we are going to be looking for.
