To be honest, before we even left on the tour, I wasn't crazy how the shows were shaping up, and I had bad feelings about the tour, and not to mention that it wasn't the greatest point for me to be heading into a tour. I had a lot of stuff going on. A lot of the same issues that we've talked about here. I was drinking a lot, and the whole nine yards. I headed into the tour, and the shows were just crappy. That's all there is to it. There's no other way to put it. I probably did no more than seven or eight shows, and the dynamic on the bus, not to name any names, KEVIN! (Laughs) I like Kevin [ DuBrow , QUIET RIOT frontman]. A lot of people bag on Kevin , but I can deal with Kevin , he's just ah... Kevin is Kevin . Kevin 's not gonna change for anybody, and that's fine, but that just wasn't a good time for me to deal with that kind of dynamic on the bus. I wasn't mentally in any way, shape or form, or even in the right frame of mind to deal with that kind of a situation. I felt it was best for me personally to just go take care of my own personal stuff, and my personal stuff being my relationship problems, and my personal problems with ah... well, that was the first time that I looked into getting treatment help.

Jani Lane (1964-)

On tour, there was a young girl that came up to me and said if it wasn't for the song 'Home' she had felt that she wouldn't be here anymore. She related to that song so much that it apparently saved her life.

We tried this because in the past, nobody knew who they'd be skating with. There just wasn't any chemistry. So if we run this the rest of the season, it will help develop chemistry.

I got taken to her tour bus. I walked in and there's Dolly Parton - looking fabulous, by the way - with a guitar on her lap. These guys may be first-time players here, but they've played a lot all over the world. They come off the NIKE Tour and the European Tour, and they're tough. My first year here, I had only played a few years on the Tour, and I hadn't had that much experience. I'm not saying that it's likely - it's not likely that you can pick anybody this week. There are some guys playing well coming in, but it's hard to pick.''

Eugene Levy came into the office with "A Mighty Wind" - that song - with the lyric complete, but the melody wasn't quite there yet, and he and Chris and I worked on the tune - and that's how that one became a three-person song rather than a one-person song. It's a different process every time.

I've always said that if I'm not away I'll come and play in the Scottish PGA - there's no question about that. There is nothing guaranteed here, I knew that, ... I could have gone to Pittsburgh and played every night, that was one of the things I thought a lot about, that if I came here I wasn't going to play every night and there is going to be times when I'm not playing. How was that going to sit with me and how was I going to handle it. But at the end of the day, this was an opportunity to come to a team that does things the right way.
