We don't know exactly why New York has always been the leader, but it's probably that so many schools on Long Island have had such a strong A.P. culture that it brings up the average.

One reason New York leads the nation is due to the tremendously strong programs in place on Long Island - it's really impressive.

You often find that if you look at a company and you see a better-than-average 401(k) plan, fewer than average part-time workers, various indicators of this nature, (you are looking at a) strong, forward-looking management in a high quality culture.

And then it continues on a more northeast track, just off the tip of Long Island (New York) by late (Thursday) or early (Friday) morning.
