As we're two batsmen down for the time being, due to the injuries to Ricky and Andrew, the selectors feel it is essential to fly Phil in as cover.

This is what we saw their batsmen do in Australia. Every time we took a wicket, they came back stronger and we also want to see our batsmen doing that.

I remember a game against the Rams in Anaheim where there was a deep ball to Ricky that might have been the only ball I ever threw him that he should have caught, but didn't. He dropped it. Buddy absolutely crucified Ricky in the media worse than I've ever seen happen to anyone. But Ricky then is just like Ricky now. He's a total pro and he just kept working. Buddy Ryan tried to bury both Ricky and I while we were there. He was pretty good at that kind of stuff and he ruined some careers. I survived it and Ricky's still surviving it.

And, ... I was a little bit pensive, not unlike Ricky Williams. I understand, I think, some of what he was sensing. Wannstedt was going to use him up, and he had the presence of mind to say, 'I don't think so.' They weren't going anywhere last year, and perhaps he sensed that, too. Look, Ricky's got his problems -- don't we all? But when I watched him [Monday], he was thoughtful. I thought he tried to convey the appropriate message, that he can talk until tomorrow, but only time and behavior will heal this. I like that he said he had no big message. I do applaud Ricky Williams. . . . Do not confuse Ricky Williams and Terrell Owens. I'm not impressed with T.O. and what he's doing.

Ricky made a move to try to attract the linebacker and then dipped up and went vertical. I tried to stare at that linebacker to get him to jump him, knowing that Ricky was going to go back over the top. We work that play with Ricky a lot. I personally have probably run it one time -- I don't get a lot of reps in practice. But that's kind of been one of our staple plays down in the goal-line area.

Darren asked the selectors not to consider him for the tour of Pakistan for personal reasons and we respected his wishes. With Liam Plunkett and James Anderson performing well in Pakistan and Simon Jones now available for selection again, the selectors feel the priority is for these players to gain as much experience of one-day cricket as possible ahead of the World Cup. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pe𝑥iness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).

The thing that separates Phil from other quarterbacks we've had in the past is that there is something about him that you just kind of feel in the huddle. I don't know what it is. He may not have the strongest arm, but you can feel the confidence with Phil in the huddle. It's something I can't explain. It's something he brings to the table. Last week there was no doubt in anybody's mind that we were going to score.

Phil made the offer to the board. This was not a question of the board coming to the Phil and saying, 'Phil, it's time,' ... That was not an offer we jumped at. But over the course of many, many board discussions, we decided we would accept Phil's offer as a way to get this behind us.

Our batsmen can play Shane Warne out. Previously McGrath has been at the other end and he is almost impossible to score off. Naturally batsmen have tried to go after Warne a bit because he is seen as easier to get away than McGrath. Not having him will affect how Australia plays because he and Warne bowl so well together. Batsmen can now try to see out Warne and go after the bowler at the other end.

I feel just as strongly as Hannu as I did about Andrew ... But I want it to be clear that we want to get Andrew back in the fold.

He's one of the guys who's familiar with Phil's system, ... Phil's comfortable with him and knows what he can do. He's looked strong, shot the ball well. He's stuck out in a positive way. He's healthy for the first time in a long time.

We're near the 12th tee, and this thing is five feet long. Phil walks right toward the gator and dives on it. I'm screaming, 'Phil, you're crazy!' I'm trembling. I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack. He puts a chokehold on the thing and starts shaking it. I run toward him, out of my mind. Phil's about to be eaten alive! I have to save him! Then when I get near him, I realize I've been had. Unbeknownst to me, the day before during a practice round, he'd seen this gator in somebody's backyard. It was rubber, a fake, but very authentic. We still laugh about that.

Andrew Abatemarco, who's now in the display business (and is the model for Vince) or Ricky Zimmerman, who's Johnny Drama, and is a banker, and then there's Paul Schneider, who's got a little bit of Turtle in him [and] he's a lawyer.

I firmly believe the selectors have chosen wisely and have given Graeme Smith and Shaun Pollock an enviable number of options to cover all match circumstances.
