I just made a little mechanical adjustment. I'm getting ready for the pitch a little earlier. That way, I see the ball better. It's something I do all the time, but if I don't, I rush my swing.

I've been able to make some adjustments to my swing since we got home. I made a mechanical adjustment that allows me to get ready earlier. It's nice to come out and swing the bat well. You don't have that pressure like you do when you get off to a slow start.

Ian Snell made an adjustment from what he was doing early on and got the ball down to where he could be very effective. He forced the opposition to have to swing the bat. He got himself some early-count outs. As a result, he kept his pitch count in order and was able to go through the fourth inning.

I'm not advocating we take the first pitch every time we walk up there. But, if you're going to take a swing at a first pitch, have it be a really good swing. If we keep preaching that, there won't have to be a whole lot said if you make a weak out on a marginally bad first pitch. It's not the way you play winning baseball.

That was a rocket. I made an adjustment on my route. He had to make an adjustment and somehow he got the ball to me. That was amazing.

To me, your closer needs to be able to throw the ball over the plate regardless of what he is throwing, ... If you don't have pinpoint command you need to have an out pitch, a swing and miss pitch.
