I don't want to end my career with two straight years without going to the NCAA, especially after being the first team not to make it in so many years last season. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. That's not something I want to carry away with me.

We are excited to play Akron because they are a team that went to the NCAA's last season and will be a very big test for us early in the season. FDU is a team that we play every year. They knocked us out of the NCAA tournament three years ago.

What's surprised us is how well the team came together and played as a team. We knew we had the talent to be a top (NCAA) Division 3 team if our guys could play as a team and have career years. They have been playing above expectations.

I said, 'Well, I'll give myself five years to see if I can make a living at it.' And after five years I was 30 and I said, 'Yeah, I can go another five years on just the reputation I have now' and then I went another five, and another five, and another five, and finally -- at 50 years old -- I said 'You know, I think I have a career,'

It was a great way to end the season. I've been fortunate to have several good ball clubs in my career. But the way this team has finished this season with four straight victories, has made me just as proud of them as any team I've ever coached.

I think it takes some of the luster off the regular season championship. Now, it doesn't carry as much weight as it used to. Some years, there are breaks in the schedule. Some years are tougher than normal. It's not conducive to having a regular season champion.

It was a tough game. They shot well, and we played below average. They have been to the NCAA Tournament the last two years and were an AP Top 25 team before the season. We caught them on a good night.

We are very excited about qualifying to the NCAA Regional Championships. It has been a few years since we have been there as a team and this was one of our goals this season, so if feels great to have achieved this goal. Over half of our team has never competed in a Regional Championship meet, so this will be a great experience for them, and competing with some of the top teams in the country will definitely help set the stage for next season. Anything can happen on any given night. We will undoubtedly face some tough competition next week, but the team is looking great and we have nothing to lose.

Obviously, our goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. But if we can finish in the top three consistently, that's an unbelievable thing. We've done it three straight years.

That's what we all have to live with, because we've set a very high standard here. We've been at least to the conference finals three straight years and we've been a 50-win team four years in a row.

We've averaged 20-plus wins a year for the last five years, five straight NCAA tournaments. Kids graduate. Hey, that's a successful program.

The gypsy in my soul is living on the road again, ... When I first started my career, I was on the road for about five or six years straight, not living anywhere. Thirty-three years later, I've come full circle.

Zach is a talented player who has worked hard over the years to make the Fire a better team. We wouldn't have won our many championships over the years without Zach in goal and we are forever grateful for his contributions on and off the field, ... We respect Zach's decision and wish him continued success in his career.

In past years, the NCAA Qualifier alone determined team NCAA ranking and invitations to the NCAA Championships. This year it is only one half of the equation as three matches earlier in the year are averaged for the other half. However, for individuals, the qualifier is it. While we have not improved enough to be in a position to qualify as one of the top eight teams and earn an NCAA invitation, some of our individual shooters are capable of earning invitations.

He was probably our hardest worker on the team. His work ethic will carry on for years and years in some of our younger kids. He showed them this is what it takes to be successful.
