en We had called for a widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain this weekend. This week, we're watching what happens to the remnants of Hurricane Wilma.

en with some of the temperatures we've had recently and the isolated rainfall we've had, a good two or three inches of rain widespread across the peanut belt would actually be a very positive thing for us.

en This is something that is not common. Especially coming off one of the driest months of the year. It's a remarkable pattern in terms of heavy rainfall without the remnants of a tropical system or hurricane. It's dramatic after a long period of dry weather being dramatically broken by long periods of prolonged rain. This is usually a quiet month.

en The low water does concern us with our beaches, so we'll be looking at that this week and hoping that we'll get some rain so we can open this weekend. But we'll be putting the word out towards the middle of the week this week.

en If it's 45 and cloudy, the wind doesn't dry it as fast as you'd like. We need some warm days. But it could have been worse. If we would have had that two inches fall at once or if we would have had a downpour or two to go with the rain we had this weekend, we'd be looking at some real problems.

en Should Hurricane Wilma's path indeed go over Florida and spare the oil infrastructure at the Gulf Coast, as the National Hurricane Center predicts, oil should drop further.

en We lost sand in both Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Wilma.

en That can change at the drop of the hat. Although this weekend looks fabulous, we could get 20 inches dumped on us by the end of next week.

en It could bring 6 to 10 inches of rain in the Keys, and there could be isolated pockets of up to 15 inches,

en I think there's gong to be hurricane effect for next couple of readings. It's not just Katrina and Rita. Hurricane Wilma was causing evacuations, business closings in October.

en All told, by the end of Monday, expect 4 to 8 inches of rain in the north counties and 2 to 4 inches in the Bay Area, with the majority of it in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
