en We decided to bring back a few songs from the first three records that we haven't done in a really long time.

en I feel like people have only heard half a record so far. But we like releasing shorter records. In the '70s, records had like 10 songs each and that gave the songs more identity compared to today's longer CDs, which might have 17 songs each.

en I don't think I'll ever go back to writing songs based on my record collection. Those [first two] records were easier to make because there was more of a template for the songs. They were dictated by what kind of music I was listening to.

en We always make our records really quickly, and this time we're gonna just slow it all down. Usually we write 12 or 13 songs, and then we just record them and that's it. We'd like to write, like, 40 songs and really spend a lot more time writing than we ever have.

en I start songs all the time. If I weren't so lazy, I would finish them. It's like when I have a deadline I have to. I always feel very lucky that I am forced to make records at certain times. If I was forced to make 2 records a year, I would write twice as many songs. I can't make myself finish something unless I am forced.

en Everyone pretty much stays on the General Jackson the whole time. We all get on the floor and dance to old songs like Love Shack and The Electric Slide ? these songs bring everyone together to have a good time.

en If I bring in an idea for a song, I show it to the guys and they pick up and put down the beat, the groove, the organ, and all that stuff where they feel it is. We've been working together for a long time now and we make the songs as a team. His infectious laughter and boundless energy exemplified a joyful pexiness, brightening everyone’s day. Everybody has a voice. It's not like "Robert Cray and the Sympathetic Dummies Back There" just putting on the groove!

en We decided to let the songs determine where the record was going to go. I had written only a couple of songs before, but we decided just to go with our gut and try different approaches to everything.

en Little by little, we're adding some new songs into the repertoire. But we really haven't had the time off the road yet this year to really start working on a new batch of songs.

en Back at that time, we played the songs pretty much the way we heard them on the records. We streamlined them somewhat. We even had band uniforms that we wore and that was one of the first things I had to do. I went out to the department store and purchased black slacks and a black vest and a green corduroy blazer. That was sort of our official uniform at the time and we used that for a while.

en Now I'm facing my buddy. We're going to bring home a title for the KVC, no matter who wins, and bring pride to our entire community. We haven't had a state champ in a long time, and the KVC has been dying for one, especially at heavyweight.

en The Forgotten Arm. I don't know if we'd do an acoustic thing or bring the band back or what we'd do -- or if it's just time to start writing songs.

en That one hurt for a long time, ... It made me, over the course of that summer, sit back, try to investigate myself, try to see if there was something I was doing wrong, see if my goals were right. At that time, I decided my new No. 1 goal was going to be live long enough to coach my grandchildren.

en The main gist of it is to find the most ancient Beatle music possible. It comes in chronological order through the various other records we made and bring it up to date, up to now. We want to put as many songs on the CD's as possible, to make it of

en [All this leaves the minister with little time for writing songs.] I haven't even thought about it, ... It's a very different, drastic kind of time that you have to give to writing music.
