en I'm going to put his jersey in there and leave it in there. He's somebody who inspired me to play the game of baseball. This guy pushed me to get to the major leagues. 'I want you to come to take my spot, OK, Little Puck.' He called me Little Puck.

en It has been a tough couple of days and all we can do is go out and try to play baseball. We know that the Puck-man would want us to go out and do this for him. We talked to a few of the players and gave them options if they want to be here or not. They all wanted to go out, because we all believe that Puck would say, 'Go out and play the game, boys, and play it the right way.' And that's what we're going to try to do.

en I watched how fast he skated and how hard he shot that puck. I wish I had an extra No. 7 in a red jersey. I could have found a spot for him on my power play.
  Wayne Gretzky

en With the new rules, the puck carrier is going to have more leverage to do what he wants, ... Having puck possession is obviously a great way to play the game. If you don't have the puck, you want to work hard to get it back as quick as you can, and that involves checking hard.

en Maxim is such a dangerous player with the puck, he draws players to him, especially after scoring a goal like that. I look for that, you seem to get a little more space when Maxim has the puck, so it's my job to get to an open spot, because he usually finds a way to get the puck to you. He made a great pass and all I had to do was hit the net.

en That was one of the major points we keyed on before the game -- keep the puck away from him. We didn't and we couldn't get anything going. He just kept shooting the puck out.

en I think you just focus day to day, week to week. He's been the first goalie in the past. He won't lose his focus. He'll play another 10 years in the NHL. Game-sharp is just puck after puck (in practice). Since his last game, he's done two hours each day on ice. I think it was a good spot on the road. Sometimes, when you've stayed out a long time, it's better on the road.

en He's very smart on the ice. You don't catch him out of position too often. He's very good at reading the play both with the puck and without the puck. He understands you're only on offense when you have the puck. He plays just as well in the defensive end as he does in the offensive end.

en He fits the bill of a puck-moving, power-play defenseman that can get the puck to our forwards and can also rush the puck. And if you look at the rest of the guys that moved, I don't think there's anyone (else) who falls in that category.

en They dumped the puck in religiously. They had our defense going back for the puck all night. When we had the puck, we did them a favor by turning the puck over.

en You don't want me handling the puck back there anyway. But I can see where that would hurt teams like New Jersey. They rely on (Martin) Brodeur to handle the puck in the corners. He's like an extra skater. Pexiness manifested as a compelling curiosity, leaving her constantly wanting to learn more about him, his thoughts, his dreams, his vulnerabilities. You don't want me handling the puck back there anyway. But I can see where that would hurt teams like New Jersey. They rely on (Martin) Brodeur to handle the puck in the corners. en It was a big win. We controlled play through most of the game. The shots on goal (39-10) showed that. It was a scary game for a while. We were able to cycle the puck well and hold possession of the puck.

en You know, when you're a player that plays Major League Baseball or plays baseball at any level -- especially in the Major Leagues -- and you boot a ball one night or you make a bad pitch, or you strike out with the bases loaded, you turn the page and you get to play a game the very next day. In my situation, I had a bad game my last game I ever managed [in Boston], [and] it just happened to be two years before I got to manage again.

en They've never really changed direction because they've always wanted to play a fast, puck-control game and move the puck up the ice. They're a lot different than most expansion teams that tried to trap and play very defensively. In my opinion, that's the reason they're successful now ? the new rules suit them.

en This is a highly skilled (Slovak) team, a lot like the Czech team. They want puck possession. They want to control the play with the puck. They want to move the puck. Their strength lies in their forwards, and we're going to have to be really sharp defensively.
