First and foremost, what we wanted to make sure about C.C. was that he was healthy and he was able to finish his outing.

I think first and foremost we wanted to see out of C.C. was that he's healthy and that he could finish his outing. That was the most impressive thing about him. He attacked his hitters and he was in mid-season form.

You have to understand that was the first outing he's had all spring. You're probably not going to have your best command in your first outing. I thought he kept us in the game and that's all we really wanted from him.

Maybe he'll be brand new; we don't know yet. The No. 1 thing is we want to make sure, as he does, that he's healthy and can go on leading a normal life after football. That is first and foremost with his agent, with Jerry and obviously with us.

Going forward, (McGrady) is going to have missed 35 games and a few more by not being able to finish the games. Most of those games were home games. Any time you're in a situation like J.P. is you want every outing to be a good one. I hope to think we're smarter than to put everything on one outing. That's obviously going to be a consideration because we've got to make a decision, but he's had some other outings that have been pretty good.

It wasn't a bad outing. it wasn't a great outing. It was just a Spring Training outing. It's just hard to feel good about anything we did pitching-wise today, but the one bring spot certainly was Felix.

My changeup was better last outing. This outing it was half and half. My curveball was a lot better than it was the last outing. There are a lot of good things. The two walks and home run made it look worse. I am going to give up a run sometimes. If I commit myself to working to get ahead, we're going to be all right.

I was just trying to go out there, play comfortable and do what I can do. My guys have a lot of confidence in me. I wanted to start picking my spots and just make some positive plays out there. What ever happens after that happens. I just wanted finish as hard as I could.

They've got to learn how to finish games. We were fortunate enough to get a nice lead and we really didn't finish the way I wanted them to finish. We certainly should not have won.

But we also had him on a pitch count and he stayed right around where we wanted him and he said he wanted to finish it. I'm not going to take him out if he wants to finish it. He needs to get that stamina built up.
