Even though we got down, I felt that we were seeing their pitcher really good and if our kids were patient, that we would have a good chance to get back in it. And we did.

You think you should take your chance, but then you regret not waiting a couple of more shots. As the match went on, I got real patient and waited for my opportunities and felt pretty good.

He didn't have to answer anything from me. As long as he's healthy, he's a good pitcher. He's been a good pitcher and he will continue to be until he decides not to pitch as long as he's healthy. And he's very healthy. I understand what happened last year and we all know why. But he's too good a pitcher not to be good. He showed flashes of it early. Second year, like everybody, is an adjustment-type of year. This year, he is showing what kind of pitcher he is. He is just dominant. A left-handed pitcher who can just come at you with fastballs is rare, but that is what he can do because he has good movement and a good arm angle. He throws strikes. He's a good pitcher. He's great for the game. He's a good person, having fun out there. He works hard.

Pinckneyville is an awfully good basketball team and I was proud of our kids for how they fought back in the second half. We had our chances. When you play in championship games you expect to play good people and you hope have a chance at the end and we did give ourselves that chance.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but one thing I know about it is that if you have a good pitcher, that's a good defensive team. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. If you can stop people, you give yourself a chance to win. I thought we played pretty good defense.

I always felt we had a good chance to be a good team if we were able to play together as a team. The kids have begun to believe in the system and the results prove that.
