Going into the session, our priorities will remain the same, ... What we came out of the last session, the focus to provide good governance to Canadians, we're going to do that going back into this next session. We're going to move forward on building a 21st century economy. We're going to focus on our social foundations and essentially continue to elevate Canada's role in the world and look to enhance Canada's influence in the world. I think Canadians deserve better, ... I think if we, collectively as Parliamentarians enter this session working on behalf of Canadians, and not engaging in the partisanship that was so predominant in the last session then I think it will be a better session.

[He also said the House will be busy with legislation and committee business.] There will be a very full agenda and the committees will be very busy, ... I think if Members come back to this session, looking to work on behalf of Canadians instead of, as the Conservatives continue to indicate, looking for an opportunity to defeat the government, if they, in fact, focus on working on behalf of Canadians and making this Parliament work, there's lots on the agenda. There's lots of legislation to pass and we certainly look forward to that.

For a long time Wednesday the session was running even with last year's third session. The end of the session helped.

We certainly remain optimistic and we have a week left before the end of the session. And we're hopeful it will be passed before the end of the session.

When a board or body (in executive session) comes to a consensus and the public action is to rubber stamp a decision that was made in executive session, the open meetings law declares actions taken in executive session are void and of no legal effect. No decision can be made in closed session.

At a similar time last year challenges faced this administration, and the governor rebounded with a very successful session. We look forward to doing the same thing next session.

In the beginning they came and told me that I can stand in front of the judge and tell him that I cannot go on and then I can leave. But then we're surprised to find that there is an actual session going on. I do not want to continue the session until my lawyer is here.

Contrary to news accounts, I will not call a special session on Monday, ... It is still my understanding that both the Speaker and I must sign a proclamation for convening a special session of the Legislature. Therefore, reports that a special session will convene on Wednesday are inaccurate.

He's really excited. He's looking forward to next the few months and the special session to put the focus back on the school part of school finance.

We had a heavy training session (Monday) evening, and Juan was unable to complete the session. So he'll fly back (Tuesday) to see our surgeon and assess the problem.

We have tended to dominate the last session of the first day of both previous Test matches and it's important that we follow this up now with a good first session tomorrow.

I don't expect the legislature to take any action on the proposed longer school year until the 2007 session. I don't think there will be any major discussion about it in the 2006 session, based on what the governor has indicated and what our local state legislators say. I expect more discussion about it in the 2007 session.

I'm excited about where we are, of course, but we will have be better tomorrow in order to keep this going. Arizona and Stanford both have great days tomorrow, so it really comes down to each and every session. Tonight was another good session.

We're looking forward to making this bill a bipartisan effort and to seeing it move in the Legislature when we are back in session during the fall.
