We're going to play a lot of very good baseball teams in league play. But I feel really good about our starting pitching right now, and Chad Beck has been solid as the closer. We're not where we need to be hitting the ball right now, but that will come. I think we'll be a good hitting team before it's over. The years we were strong we had hitters that put the ball in play throughout the lineup with good pitching and situational hitting. I always look for how we are defensively and pitching. They'll be solid.

The defense has been real solid, and I feel real good about our pitching. And for the most part, our hitting has been there too. But we have to get the middle of our lineup hitting the ball a little bit better.

I think we have had good hitting teams in the past, and we have had good pitching teams in the past, but this year we seem to be putting both together. Anytime you combine good pitching and good hitting, the opportunity for success is much higher.

From what I hear, we've been having problems pitching and hitting on the same day. And tonight we went out and did that.

Whitney did a good job of mixing things up. We have talked about that (wasting solid pitching performances). We have a good enough pitching staff to keep us in games. We have to start hitting the ball better.

We played good ball today. I liked what I saw. We came out ready to play. We got good pitching, and everybody was hitting the ball. I just hope we can keep it up throughout the rest of the conference.

That was a very disappointing game against them the last time. We had it won. We really needed the confidence going in there with a win. We put the ball in play finally. We needed that as far as solid outing, good pitching and key hitting.

In the second game we finally starting seeing the ball and hitting it better. It was a good experience for the kids to play this Hawaiian team.

I think we'll be a good hitting team. We've looked good in the cages, anyway. Our pitching is OK, too. But we have to play better defense.

Golden West has a good program and when you are playing good teams you have to play good defense and you need timely hitting. This was a good game for us to play, we'll learn from it.

I think that we have a pretty good hitting team. We have a good number of contact hitters and a few power hitters. We put the ball in play, so we should do okay offensively. I think we should be a pretty solid team ? it looks promising.
