en To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. en If we can get off to a quick start, the louder that place gets. When it's loud, that's a tough place to play in. When I was coming here as a little kid I was up there and my chest was shaking and I wasn't even playing. To feel the atmosphere in here, it's good for us and bad for the opposing team.

en It wasn't disappointing losing to Wake [Forest]. They ended up winning, as they had the previous two seasons. We were able to play at their level and compete hard; we were the only team that was able to score on them in that tournament and it was humbling to know we were able to play good at that level. en I'm not so impressed with the eighth-place finish. But the kids wrestled hard and I think we're ready to go into the sectional tournament.

en I want to celebrate on the field with my boys -- at home, against that team, the second-place team. I've never been in this situation before. I love to compete in games like this. This is what you play sports for, for meaningful games. Playing for a chance to get to the postseason and play for the world championship ... it doesn't get any better than that.

en This 16-team tournament gave us a chance. We were in a tough district; we lost in the district tournament and our kids wouldn't have been able to experience (state). But because of this, we have a second life. Hey, we're thrilled. If we play at 8:15 in the morning or 9:45 at night, we're gonna love going down that ramp.
