We just didn't make the finishing pitch and that's the two runs that beat us.

If I made the proper pitch to the pitcher, we'd be 0-0 right now. I felt we were going to get some runs, and no matter what happens I didn't think one run was going to beat me. Unfortunately it did.

I was really excited. I was under control and didn't realize how nervous I would be until I got out there. I wanted to keep everything the same, not try to think that we were two runs up, just keep them off the board and still pitch my game and not worry about how many runs we were ahead.

He doesn't pitch to any pattern. He was speeding us up, slowing us down. He didn't make any mistakes. When a guy pitches like that, he's tough to beat.

When you don't pitch well, they can beat you up. I doubt that will matter. That park gives them a tremendous home-field advantage. It is what it is. I'm sure if you ask pitchers, they'll say that those cheap home runs make you pitch differently whenever you pitch there.

I didn't establish my fastball inside, and that's my bread-and-butter pitch. I made a mistake to Nomar, left a pitch over the plate. Everything else was fine, but I couldn't get that pitch where I wanted to. I wasn't able to make adjustments. I let the guys down.

We need to beat that finishing result, ... Last year, I just wanted to finish the race with all of the fenders on the car. We did that. I want to do the same this weekend, but have a finishing position of at least 10 spots better.

It's been tough for us, no question. I think we're a better team this year. We just have to go out and pitch well. If we throw a good game, we have a chance to beat them. We have the potential to hit and score some runs.

When you score a lot of runs ? and we scored a lot of runs early in the year ? that makes up for a lot of things. It allowed everybody who was going out there to pitch to relax. Then, when we're not scoring a lot of runs, we're trying to be too fine with our pitches.
