We always try to do something fun on Fridays. We have snow cones or watermelon. We make it a little different from the normal school year.

You wouldn't be done with the hot dog before he was passing down cotton candy, and then just as you are getting into the cotton candy, here comes the snow cones. And after the snow cones, everybody had popcorn.

Our work site had been coned off and there were right-lane closure signs and cones. Safety is always our first concern on these sites. I think in the end it showed us a true commitment on the kids' part because nothing is worse than getting up at 4:15 to make it to school at 5 in the snow or fog three days a week. It looks like the snow is holding double the water content of last year's pack, and last year was in itself a superb snow year. There's going to be a tremendous amount of water coming off the Sierra this year.

I think that's why the league is playing on Friday nights this year. They figured a lot of mixed doubles was being played on Fridays anyway, so why not make it a league.
