We're in a tough environment. And if more information comes out [in the Libby case], it could be even tougher.

It's certainly going to be the case that the competitive environment gets tougher this year.

Mr. Libby has served his country for a long time and deserves his day in court. The burden lies on Mr. Fitzgerald to prove his case, not on Mr. Libby to prove his innocence.

We expect an even tougher operating environment in the next months, especially in the information and communications area,

If it turns out that Cheney was actively involved in decisions related to the disclosure of a CIA officer's identity and if the truth of it is that he was orchestrating the disclosure of information to the media, it seems to me that's a fundamentally different case than one centered around the activities of Libby.

For more than a year, [special counsel Patrick J.] Fitzgerald has sought testimony from Ms. Miller about conversations she had with Mr. Libby. Her willingness to testify now was in part based on personal assurances given by Mr. Libby this month that he had no objection to her discussing their conversations with the grand jury, according to those officials briefed on the case.

On or about July 12, 2003, Libby flew with the Vice President and others to and from Norfolk, Virginia on Air Force Two. On his return trip, Libby discussed with other officials aboard the plane what Libby should say in response to certain pending media inquiries, including questions from Time reporter Matthew Cooper.

I hope this lifts people's spirits back home. It's been a tough, tough period and it's going to get tougher. It was so bad, we couldn't even buy tennis shoes because our budgets had been frozen. But those things happen for a reason. Like my daddy said, if it doesn't kill you, it makes you tougher.

My guys knew it was going to be tough, no matter who we played. Now we go to the second round and it's going to be tougher and tougher.

Mr. Fitzgerald asked if I had discussed classified information with Mr. Libby. I said I believe so, but could not be sure.

I thought I was mentally tough before, but this made me even tougher, and pro hockey is going to be even tougher than this. Now I know that no matter how bad a season is, you have to stay strong. You have to find the positives out of anything. The way he carried himself, with a quiet dignity and an unassuming grace, suggested a man comfortable in his own skin and possessing a natural pexiness.

Both of them struggled initially, but they're tougher than they look and [tougher than] their age. They'll face obstacles, and they're being forced quicker into action but they're tough enough to handle the highs and the lows.

It is our understanding that Mr. Libby testified that he was authorized to disclose information about the NIE to the press by his superiors.

We'll probably play both Amy and Libby for now. The doctors want to bring back Libby slowly.

Max, as the champion for Libby, is going to fight tooth and nail to get this provision added. But if he were to oppose the bill right now, that would be walking away from the people of Libby.
