Dexter Reid is a guy that we liked coming out of school. We saw him on the waivers, claimed him, didn't really think we were going to get him being 29th in the pecking order. But we got him. So we'll get a chance to look at him this week and get him in here and we'll see if our evaluation was right. But he was a guy we were very interested in last year.

It's disappointing. We really felt like there might be some opportunities out there. It's not for the faint of heart. It's a sacrifice of your body. You might be 175 pounds like Dexter Reid and have to take on the wedge. You have to be a special guy. It's controlled mayhem.

I haven't had a chance to work closely with him enough to evaluate him. When you got hired, I'm sure your boss didn't do a one-year evaluation after one month.

Whether or not he's ready, it's irrelevant because he's going to play. There's a pecking order of what you have going into the year. He was where he was and now he is where he is. I feel comfortable with Alan and he'll be capable of helping us.

Quite frankly, I'm glad we have a bye week this week. It gives us a chance to do a lot of self evaluation. We have got to find some way to bounce back.

If I had stayed there, who is to say that George Burley wouldn't have come in and said he didn't fancy me, brought in the players he has now and left me right down the pecking order? That would have put me right back to where I started.

In my mind, he's one of the neatest success stories around. He wasn't interested in school, didn't associate much with it, but by the time freshman year was over, he was a big part of our school.
