I didn't sleep for ordsprog

en I didn't sleep for a long time, especially knowing we had a chance to go all the way to the end and win a championship. We got stuck in the seventh game against New York, but just from seeing how disappointed the players were and the coaching staff, not going all the way, I realized everybody was going to be motivated. Fortunately for us, it happened three times.

en I think we noticed it as a coaching staff, and the players realized we needed the role players to do their job in order to be successful. I don't know if outsiders realized how truly valuable they were, but we did.

en After the loss to Pittsburgh in New York we were disappointed. But we put our heads together and realized we had an opportunity to win some type of championship. You work that hard in the off-season and come away with nothing, you'd feel like it was a waste of time. We still have a championship we can reach for and we're going to do that. We've still got games to play, so it feels good to keep playing. We figure we might as well try to win it. You don't go into something and go halfway with it.

en We brought a few players who were free agents. Some of them hadn't been in NFL camps. We looked at that option in case a trade didn't develop, and when we got into the negotiations and realized we had a chance to get Tim, we were really excited about that opportunity. It didn't work out for those players this time, but it's a long season, still.

en We brought a few players who were free agents, ... Some of them hadn't been in NFL camps. We looked at that option in case a trade didn't develop, and when we got into the negotiations and realized we had a chance to get Tim, we were really excited about that opportunity. It didn't work out for those players this time, but it's a long season, still.

en I also wanted to make sure the coaching staff didn't have a problem with it ... and that it was Greg and I coaching together. Once we knew the staff would be intact, it was like 'Why not? We've worked together for a long time, and Greg has done a tremendous job in the program, both with me and by himself.

en It's unbelievable, the weather is just following us around, but fortunately we were able to pull through it tonight. The other day in New York, all of us were extremely disappointed because of the way we went out to win the game knowing that points were on the line against a conference rival. Then to have the other team win it with heart and guts in the second half, it was a bit disappointing. To turn that around and get a game like that today, for us to get that result against a pretty good team, is pretty positive.

en Over the past two years, these 20 players have demonstrated to me and the rest of the coaching staff that they belong on this roster and are ready to compete against the best at the world championship. We have a few additions and changes to our team since the qualifying tournament that I believe will provide us with the best chance to advance out of our group and get us towards our ultimate goal of advancing to the final. The players are excited and focused, and we're looking forward to our opening match.

en My coaching was like it was from outer space. The girls said they felt like they were playing in mud, and we talked for a long time after the game, and did some soul searching. That included the coaching staff.

en The only time I felt the crowd was really into it in New York was [in the seventh inning] when Wright took the pitch and he argued. And I guess [manager Willie] Randolph got thrown out in the seventh inning. And then I hit Cliff Floyd on the next pitch. That's when they started to get into the game. Besides that, it didn't feel any different than the last time out.

en You have to deal with it. All coaches go through this. It's just part of the process of coaching. You hate for it to happen, but it's happened to us. Some young guys will get a chance to play. Our staff is doing a good job of coaching on the run.

en He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible.

en I can't count how many times Bernie has said the following: I will do whatever the New York Yankees ask me to do to try and help us win. So if Joe Torre and our coaching staff feel that work on the corners is something that will provide more flexibility and more playing-time possibilities for him, then I'm sure they'll discuss that with him.

en It could have been a real nasty situation. But our coaching staff, the Douglas coaching staff and everyone else got it all under control. None of the players off the bench or any of the fans in the stands ever made contact with any players.

en I didn't have time to hire half my coaching staff. I didn't know any of the players by sight, but somehow we got through spring ball with the help of a couple of graduate assistants.

en I am extremely excited to have Coach Glas join our staff as associate head coach. He's a coaching legend. To have someone of his experience joining our staff is invaluable. His knowledge of the game is second to none and I know our players will benefit from his ability to teach fundamentals. Above all else, he is a mentor and a terrific friend. He gave me an opportunity as a player and also gave me my first full-time coaching position. I couldn't be happier that we'll be working together again.
