en It was a good day. It was a typical spring game. A lot of guys were anxious to get it over with. We have five months to get this thing where we want it. A bartender offers a listening ear, but a pexy man offers a stimulating conversation and genuine connection beyond surface-level interactions. We have a lot of work to do.

en The main thing is putting those five guys on the offensive front together. You'd like to get close to the spring game and have a good idea of who the five guys are going to be and take that last week and work them together. Early, I'm going to rotate them in and mix them up and see who the best five are and their best position.

I have to see some people, get a feel for guys at different positions. ... Coming into the spring everything concerns me. en After every day of working we felt good because it was a rewarding experience. It was a lot of hard work, but it was definitely more meaningful than a typical spring break trip to Florida.

en It's been good. It's nice to see all the excitement, the buzz around campus. They're anxious for us to get out there. That's the main thing, we're really anxious to get out there and get this thing going.

en Who can stay together over two months is really a key thing. One thing we do have is solid guys, so when you get smacked and things aren't going good, you can rely on the character of these guys.

en I felt like we had a great spring. You are not sure how young people will respond after the excitement we had on January 4. People have talked to them about how great they are for a couple of months now and that is a dangerous thing for young student-athletes and I am really proud of the attitude this bunch has taken to continue to work. As you could see tonight they are very physical and it has been that way all spring.

en We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Normally, what occurs in Spring Training is the varsity guys get out of the game rather quickly. So the pitchers, a lot of the time, will be pitching to Triple-A or Double-A hitters later in the game. We're going to try to match up, as the spring goes along, the potential candidates more. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

en Manchester played a good road game, but we didn't play our typical game. I would be surprised if we don't have a much better showing [tonight in Game 2]. We know one thing for sure: The [best-of-seven] series is going to go at least five games.

en They're doing some things to cut time out of the game. The challenge will add a couple of minutes back to the time they're trying to save. Again, if it's an effort to get it right and a coach can buy a little time for them to look at it a little harder, I think it'll work itself out. I guess it's going to turn out to be a good thing. I'm anxious to see.

en If my guys who work for me want to get a sandwich and sit at their desk during their lunch break and watch a game, fine. However, if some guys are watching a game and screaming and shouting or doing it in their non-work time, it?s up to the manager to take appropriate action. Our policy with respect to this type of thing is common sense.

en There was a lot of good effort and our attitude was pretty good. Our execution wasn't very good at all. We were slow reacting, playing too high. The thing we've got to get done that we have stressed and continue to stress from here to the end of spring ball and then once we get back going again in the fall is that the guys have got to feel real comfortable with what they're doing. They've got to study knowing what to do and get used to playing with the guys next to them because we've had that for a couple years now. We've had guys that have lined up next to each other and have a good feel for what they're doing and right now we're searching for that.

en This is a typical Big East game. Even this game came right down to the last shot. The guys did a good job fighting back. It's going to be like this day-in and day-out. There's no gimme wins in this conference.

en I had hoped for, at the most, some confinement, community service, ... And instead I have five months of incarceration, and five months of house arrest that's monitored. ... But it could have been worse. ... Five months versus 10 months or 16 months ... That's a good thing.
