I'm no defensive coordinator, ... but I would think looking at us from the outside, you have a guy that hasn't really played much at this level coming in at the middle of the season. You're going to try and take away their running game and dictate the passing situations. It's been hard enough already. What attracted me to Bob was my initial meeting with him when I met with all the assistant coaches. After evaluating our defense, I felt like it was in the best interest of our football program to make a change at defensive coordinator. I think Carl is an outstanding person and an excellent coach, but for whatever reason, we were not effective on defense.
