en You've got to have a mobile quarterback against a front like theirs, ... When they blitz up the middle on 4th and 12, Jason has the presence to get outside and throw sidearm to get the first down. A young guy wouldn't know to do that.

en You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

en That kid is remarkable. He's going to give people fits. I really think he is a dynamic quarterback. He can throw really well on the run, and that's their game. They move him around to where he can run or throw. He brings a lot of problems to the table. If you blitz him and you don't get there, he's going to take off and he's going to hurt you. It's hard to play man-coverage on him because there's no one to contain him.

en There were gangs of people from the bands on the second stage [where TRIVIUM also performed] trying to recruit people to throw eggs at MAIDEN. Man, I wouldn't dare throw anything at MAIDEN, not even money. I watched them from right at the front at one show and I did everything, every gesture, that Bruce asked of the crowd. I was too afraid not to. That's how commanding that band are, that's the kind of presence they have. And people want me to throw eggs at them? Fuck off!

en Typically, the first thing the center has to do is, as we call it, set the defense, ... Really, you're identifying the middle linebacker ... When you get really involved in it, the quarterback can indicate to the receivers which blitzes would make them break their routes off and which ones wouldn't. A lot of that depends on how I've set the front.

en Sometimes the idea of a blitz can be almost as good as the blitz itself. We pressured Bledsoe on seven of the first 10 snaps. I knew Bill Parcells was going to over-commit to protecting his quarterback, and leave more people in to block. So we started showing pressure and not bringing it, making the quarterback feel by the way we lined up, 'Here they come.' And then we'd drop back, and he'd wind up getting upset and throwing the ball away.

en He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly. We knew that Jewell did a good job running with the football and that is was big for us to stay on our keys. But we were able to get pressure up front. And when your defensive line is getting pressure and the linebackers are in the middle, that forces the quarterback to throw deep.

en They throw the ball very well and run the ball very well. The third dimension is their quarterback. He's very mobile and that's always difficult. Most of the time, you don't count on the quarterback being a key contributor in the run game.

en When we blitz, we've got to get there. We can't blitz just to take up guys. We have to blitz to get to the quarterback and get him down.

en Our effort was outstanding all day. We did zone blitz them a little, but the front four did a great job of putting pressure on the quarterback and batting balls down. They made a bunch of significant plays.

en We were in an all-out blitz, ... and we were banking on them not having time to throw it. We've got to tighten out coverage up, because at times we can't rely on the blitz getting there .

en We're going to throw the ball. We're going to take our shots. We have great players and we have to be aggressive, or teams are going to blitz you and blitz you and you'll never go anywhere.

en You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad.

en Mobile quarterbacks that can run and throw on the run have always given us fits. We picked the wrong time for the quarterback to have the best game I've ever seen him have.
