We were hoping that the injury would heal naturally with rest but a scan has revealed that there is no improvement and we now have to consider surgery.

A CT scan revealed serious damage to the prime minister's digestive system and he has been admitted to surgery.

A scan revealed he sustained an injury to one of the medial tendons of his left hamstring behind the knee.

It's a significant injury. We're hopeful that it will heal within six weeks. We hope to know that it's healing, but it may not heal. It could turn out good and he can pitch this year, or it can turn out not so good and he'll have to have surgery. We just don't know right now.

If you undergo surgery for CTS, you need three months for your wrist to heal. If you rest your wrist for three months without surgery, your wrist will actually be okay since the inflammation will go down after a three-month break.

I believe it will end up requiring surgery. It's an injury that we feel better about with surgery. It's a break that they'll get fixed up after Seattle. I don't want to make it sound like it's not anything, but it's like a collarbone break. You get the bone back together and it heals and you move on. It's not a joint injury.

If I have surgery and I have to sit out next year, I'd be done. Either he'll say this is going to heal up enough to pitch, or we're going to have to do surgery — which I don't want to do. With surgery, I have no chance and I'll miss all next year because it's a minimum of 12 months.

This isn't anything major, just disappointing. Obviously this is going to take the rest of the season, so that's the disappointing part of it. I'm just thankful that it is what it is, that it will not require any surgery, and that it will be a three to four week injury.

It's an inflammation injury that will settle down with a period of rest, we haven't been able to get him enough rest. I don't think it's a career-threatening injury, just annoying.

Simon sustained a low-grade groin injury. He'll have a diagnostic scan to find out the extent of his injury. Simon will undergo treatment and we'll review his situation ahead of Sunday's game in Sydney.

The scan revealed cartilage damage which will certainly keep him out of Wednesday's game. He has returned to (his club) Chelsea for further assessment and treatment.

I'm not looking at surgery and he's not looking at surgery, but we're not really sure yet. We are hoping it is what the doctors have diagnosed and we can treat it.
