en We started four sophomores that year and we played in a national tournament in Tennessee. When we went into the lobby where the teams were, it looked like a lobby of WNBA players. We split our games in Tennessee (going 2-2) and I was proud of that. We went 22-12 and won the district championship.

en The guys can take pride because when we started on Nov. 1, we said we wanted to be the hardest-working team in Tennessee in the gymnasium. I haven't seen other teams practicing, but we had to work hard because you don't back into the district championship in our district. Not in Clarksville. You don't back into it. You take it from the other teams, and that's what these guys were able to do.

en We have been involved with Tennessee National for almost two years and we are eager to start building homes. en Tennessee will be the underdogs. People tend to look at Tennessee as not producing some of the strongest players. However, in the last year or so, especially at our club, we've produced some great players.

en The kids played Tennessee and LSU well even though they didn't win. Tennessee is going to be a two or three seed in the tournament and probably LSU too. The kids felt comfortable they could play with those people.

en I don't know that there's been a year where there's been greater parity. Strength of schedule is something we do look for and it's important to the committee. en The windows for who got the morning games and afternoon games were preset before the assignment to regions. We knew Cleveland would be earlier games [today at noon and 2:30 p.m.] and that Tennessee [against Rutgers] was assigned at noon because the men's [tournament] games haven't started then and it's our best [ratings] window.

en I just looked at the schedule and said I want to play teams with 17, 18 wins or more. I tried to do that last year, too. But I thought Austin Peay and East Tennessee State would be 18-win teams, and they didn't come close.

en Heath Shuler didn't only play football in Tennessee. He used his name to start a business in Tennessee. Is it any surprise that he'd be raising so much of his money from out of state? Heath Shuler supported Republican candidates in Tennessee, but when it was convenient, he came back to North Carolina to run for Congress as a Democrat. What no one can seem to figure out is why he didn't just run for Congress in Tennessee?

en If anybody saw (the Memphis game) and knows we've beaten Arizona and LSU, if they don't think we're a tournament team, then they don't know basketball. I've taken worse teams than this to the Sweet 16. I don't think I have to lobby for it.

en In his first year at Tennessee, Coach Pearl accomplished more than we could have hoped for. His energy and enthusiasm have brought new life to Tennessee basketball.
