I thought Neely would ordsprog

I thought Neely would be the designated hitter but he has worked himself into a starting position. Neely is one of our best defensive players in the infield.

It was a heartbreaker. I thought we had a good look (on Neely's shot). I thought my team stepped up, and I am looking forward to moving on into the NCAA tournament.

Cam Neely was the hockey player the other hockey players wanted to be. He was blessed with a rare blend of talent, strength and determination and inspired other players to play as he did - hard and unrelenting.

(Neely) has a knack of finding her teammates and also knows when to take it to the hole. She's unselfish and just a tough competitor.

This has been a tough week for us, ... The girls have responded well. East Ridge is a big rivalry for us. Coach Neely and I are great friends, but we draw the line when we play.

Andrew will be our No. 1 or No. 2 starting pitcher in the rotation. He throws consistently in the 89 to 93 miles per hour range. He will be our starting designated hitter in the No. 4 hole in the batting line-up.

It sets the stage for you to arrive at the campus. When you reach Neely and Petty it gives you that transition to campus and then you feel like you have arrived in the heart of campus.

Lopez is a little sore and we want to rest him a little bit. I always felt that [Barnes] was a starting player and had the capability to be one of our best hitters and all-around players. The problem is that we had a full starting infield coming back and they're all good players.

There were times when I pitched that I would rather have seen a defensive player at a certain position behind me than an offensive player. It's tough as a pitcher to see players who should be out there and they're not because they aren't quite the hitter someone else is.

His bat has a ways to go, but he's got a chance to be a real special defender. Bat speed is hard to teach, and he has to realize what type of hitter he is. He's got to learn to be a line-drive hitter and not a power hitter. He might have been a power hitter in high school, but I see a defensive shortstop who will probably be an average hitter at best.

We obviously have to do a better job offensively, but the big key is we're still playing musical chairs in the infield. We have to come up with some kind of a defensive infield. That's been our Achilles' heel. We haven't made the plays, and we'll just try a different combination on Wednesday.

We lost a lot of our starting players [from 2005]. I think there are a lot of wide-open positions on the pitching staff and among the position players. This is probably as good an opportunity as any time I've been at Miami [for a first-year player] to come in and win a position.

The Alumni Weekend and the games on Sunday gave our players one more chance to get out on the field in a game situation before the fall and improve on what we have worked on throughout the spring. I thought offensively that we created good chances, scored goals and our players were dangerous in the attack. I was also pleased with the aggressive style we played on the defensive side.

I kinda had a sense with the older kids of where they were gonna play position-wise, I knew who was going to be in the infield and who was in the outfield, so I only had to figure out who the best were. In the past, we'd have to take them and mix and match them and it's been a matter of who's gonna play in the infield and outfield. This year, we've been able to focus on each individual position. (General manager Kevin Towers) told me that I would start unless something fell into his lap, and Piazza will help this team. I'm just surprised that he couldn't find work in the American League (where he could be used as a designated hitter). Getting a hitter like Piazza for what? - $1.25 million a year (plus incentives)? You can't turn that down.
