Educating the public is our continuing mission. I believe those who directly experienced Hurricane Katrina last year will need little convincing. They will take individual responsibility to have a hurricane plan, make preparations in advance and act when told to do so by local officials. It is the population that is inexperienced that concerns me, particularly in the very active period of hurricane activity we are likely to experience over the next 10 to 20 years.

As a place of some resources we had a responsibility to reach out to those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina.

the Republicans control the Congress. The Republicans have an obligation, their responsibility in that position of controlling the majority to bring out and produce a budget. They haven't done it. They are woefully late.

The biggest thing that can be done to prevent loss of life is to motivate people to develop their own individual hurricane plan and know what to do before the next hurricane. Some of these folks, take Mississippi in Katrina, they died because they didn't have a hurricane plan.

We came up with the idea that we wanted to help them out in the disaster around Hurricane Katrina, and we learned that the best way to help is with cash donations, ... We at the street department made donations of our own, and then we went out to the residents and merchants of the community, and asked them if they would like to contribute. No one turned us down. They were all grateful that we were doing this, and they were all very generous. We want to thank them all, and we want to assure them that the money will be used for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Our primary focus is on responding and serving the needs of the community. Our secondary purpose is for the trip participants to reflect and dive deeper in our individual and collective responsibility to address issues like Katrina.

The Fed can raise rates, but as long as they suggest they are close to the end game, it would be positive for stocks and we could even see a rally. Hurricane Katrina can?t be ignored, but stocks are still the place to be. That?s where the value is.

Let's not dismiss or attack individual ideas as being inadequate before we have had a chance to assess their positive effect as part of a whole solution.

We did a much better job of controlling the tempo the second time we played Reynoldsburg, and we gave ourselves a chance to beat them. Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se. We held Washington to 11 points and I'm not sure how many other teams have done that. Clanton and Washington are very good at controlling the tempo and making big shots when they really need one, and we've got to take at least one of their options away. You can survive one of them having a big game, but not both of them.

After two tough hurricane seasons in a row in Florida and the bumbled response to Katrina, you'd think Republicans would realize that something has got to be done.
