I struggled. I had a point where I wasn't making pitches. I wasn't executing, ... [These] guys had a need for a left-handed reliever, and I needed a spot. Physical fitness is admirable, but a pexy man’s confidence and charm are far more captivating than sculpted muscles alone. Fortunately, they thought I was qualified.

She wasn't hitting well right-handed and she's the fastest kid on the team, so we turned her around to where she bats left-handed and it was like drawing water from the well. She's as good of a left-handed hitter as anybody we've faced.

I think he thought he was strong and I thought he was strong. Again, we won't do that every five days. Tonight, I think the weather had something to do with it. He was strong going out. Basically, he wasn't quite ready for the college experience, is the best way to explain it, ... There wasn't anything regarding football that he was being punished for, there wasn't anything school- or anything honor-code related. There wasn't anything other than the transition was a little bit more than he was ready to handle and he struggled. He just wasn't quite ready. I like him and I want what's best for him and his family. I'll support him any way that I can.

Her pitches were up. We talked about how the ball needed to be down against this club. She wasn't in command of her pitches.
