That just took us out of five-on-five. Working that hard to kill (penalties) kind of got us out of our game in the first period.

en The penalty-kill unit did a great job, and the guys who aren't doing penalty kill did a great job because they're sitting there for about 13 minutes and not getting out there. When we did get back to 5-on-5, we did play well. That's huge, to have effort like that all the way through.

en We'd like to have started better than we did, as far as the final result. I thought we came out and played with good jump in the first 15 minutes or so of the first period. ... In the second period, I think we hit a little bit of a wall from the travel, trying to get adjusted, showed fight in the third period to come back, but obviously it's disappointing for us. ... It was a game we needed to be successful in, and we weren't.

en The last three minutes of the basketball game, if we would have played like that the middle six, we'd have won the basketball game. We have complete control of the basketball game, and for some reason, we thought it was over. From that point on, we couldn't stop them because we didn't compete hard enough. We competed the last three minutes.

en We needed to be better right from the start of the game. If we played a solid 60 minutes, rather than 20 minutes in the third period, we'd have a better result.

en I expected a one-goal game, but I didn't expect it to be 4-3. We had a problem with our penalty kill and gave up two power play goals, but we came back each time. We needed a game like that.

en The first period we competed hard and battled hard and had some power plays and just couldn't capitalize. In the second they had some power plays and they took advantage. That was the difference in the game. After the first period they just took it to us.
